Your data

What we collect, why we collect it, and the control you keep over it.

Template notice: this is sample policy text written to describe how the application actually behaves. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it checked against the data-protection law that applies to you before relying on it publicly.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you register we store your email address and a cryptographic hash of your password. We never store the password itself and cannot recover it - a forgotten password is reset, not retrieved.

Order information

Placing an order records the products, quantities, prices at the time of purchase, the order date, the delivery address you supply and the status as it changes.

Shopping basket

Items added before checkout are held in a temporary server session and discarded when it ends. Basket contents are not linked to your account until you place the order.

Technical information

Our servers write standard request logs, used for diagnosing errors and detecting abuse.

2. How we use it

  • To process orders, adjust stock levels and show your order history.
  • To authenticate you and keep you signed in during a visit.
  • To respond when you contact us about an order or a warranty claim.
  • To keep the service secure and investigate suspected misuse.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

3. Cookies

This store uses only cookies necessary for it to function:

PurposeWhat it doesLifetime
AuthenticationKeeps you signed in as you move between pagesUntil you sign out
SessionLinks your browser to your shopping basketEnd of the session
Anti-forgeryProtects forms against cross-site request forgeryEnd of the session

Blocking these will stop sign-in and checkout from working. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. Sharing

Personal information is shared only where it is needed to complete an order - for example a delivery address passed to a courier - or where we are required to disclose it by law. Any supplier acting on our behalf is bound to use the information solely for that purpose.

5. How long we keep it

  • Account records - for as long as the account is open.
  • Order records - retained after closure where accounting or warranty obligations require it.
  • Basket sessions - discarded when the session ends.
  • Server logs - kept for a short diagnostic window, then rotated.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may be entitled to:

Ask for a copy of your data
Ask us to correct it
Ask us to delete your account
Object to or restrict a use

Much of this is available directly in your account dashboard, where you can review your details, orders and past purchases at any time.

7. Security

Passwords are stored hashed and salted. Administrative areas are restricted by role, so ordinary accounts cannot reach order-management or catalogue-editing functions. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected customers promptly if a breach ever affects their data.

8. Contact us

To exercise any of the rights above, or to ask how your information is handled:

  • We aim to reply within 30 days
